Food for ThoughtFrom Charter House Administrator, Tony Enquist Though a hectic time, the holiday season continues to bring out the best in us. We smile and greet passersby, we stop to lend a helping hand to those in need, and we hope someday our world will live in peace. At Charter House, this holiday spirit doesn't subside in January; rather, it maintains and even builds momentum throughout the year. The early planners of Charter House envisioned a place where a high level of service, coupled with gestures of kindness and thoughtfulness, would create a nurturing community. Their dream came true. At Charter House, residents and staff get to know one another and truly care about and care for each other. I see actions that prove this every day. As a resident recently said to me, "I have been keeping an eye on my neighbor to be sure that she is okay." In December I attended an annual gathering in which residents express their appreciation to Charter House staff. As I listened to the kind words spoken and saw the smiles, handshakes, and hugs, I was reminded that our Charter House family is unique. The enjoyment we experience where we live and work truly is dependent on the relationships we build with friends, neighbors, and colleagues. On behalf of Charter house residents and staff, I wish you a Happy New Year. |
